B

Bill of Quantities

A bill of quantities is a document that lists every single item that's involved in the construction project as well as the cost associated with it. This includes building materials, labour and any other elements that are required to complete the project.


Burger Bar

A hamburger menu is an icon used on a website and in apps that, when clicked or tapped, opens a side menu or navigation drawer. It's called a "hamburger menu" because it takes the form of the famous sandwich. In MyConstruct we use these symbols to show that an item can be clicked and dragged to be sorted.

Cost Centre

A Cost Centre is an estimating term used to describe a category / type of inventory items, think of it as a folder for example the Cost Centre "White goods" would contain your inventory for things such as washers, dryers and refrigerators. It is also commonly related to your inventory item number system or "Cost Codes" which can be linked in accounting software to track inventory, purchase orders and estimates.

Cost Centres are also grouped by "Work Stages" which helps you add another level to filtering when you're doing an estimate. Cost Centres and work stages live in the "Type of Work".



CSV

CSV files are text files with information separated by commas, saved with the extension .csv - generally the easiest way to create these is using Microsoft Excel.

Excel

Microsoft Excel is the industry leading spreadsheet software program, a powerful data visualization and analysis tool.

Gantt Chart

A Gantt chart is a type of bar chart that illustrates a project schedule. Modern Gantt charts also show the dependency relationships between activities and the current schedule status.


GTO

Graphical Takeoff tool, like digital tracing paper, allows you to trace a plan to visually work out quantities.

Off-Day

Off-days in MyConstruct are just days that there will be no work being done, examples would be public holidays, weekends or days we mark as non-working such as wet weather events etc.

Information that comes loaded in MyConstruct as standard to help you get started, like a template / example data.
